Children’s books sought for Rockwall Y’s Book Drive

(ROCKWALL, TX – April 2, 2018) As YMCAs across America prepare to celebrate National Healthy Kids Day, the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall will kick off a new Summer Reading Program with a Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Book Drive.

The Book Drive Kick-off Party will be held at noon Saturday, April 14. Bring the family and enjoy healthy snacks as you drop off new or used children’s books for the Rockwall YMCA’s new Imagination Station – a library of books available for Y kids to explore while in ChildWatch, the free childcare program available to Y members while they are utilizing the facility.

Volunteers and Y board members will also read to Y kids who participate in Camp Dakota and Angel Camp this summer.

The Rockwall Y is seeking donations of children’s books appropriate for ages 5 -12. Donations will be accepted at the April 14th kick-off party through April 30th.

The Book Drive & Summer Reading Program is the Y’s way of carrying out the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids, because exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind often end with the school year.
