Utley Middle School student to perform at 40th Annual Texas Flute Society Flute Festival

(ROCKWALL, TX — April 17, 2018) Utley Middle School flautist, Lorien Britt, won one of three spots in the 40th Annual Texas Flute Society Flute Festival Junior High School Masterclass.

She prepared a difficult solo and sent in an audition tape to compete against other flautists from all over Texas.

Lorien will be participating in this prestigious event Saturday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at Texas Women’s University in Denton. She will be working with clinician Drew Powell, the 2017 winner of the Myrna Brown Flute Competition and 2018 MM graduate of Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

Lorien currently studies flute with Claire Johnson, graduate of Juilliard School of Music, founder of Texas Flute Society Festival and retired flute professor.
