Rockwall-Heath cheerleaders make Big 12 college cheer squads

(ROCKWALL, TX — June 27, 2018) The Rockwall-Heath High School Varsity Cheer Team won its first ever NCA National Championship this year, and this fall, three graduates from the squad will continue cheering on the sidelines for Big 12 universities.

Congratulations to Sarah Gibson, Brooke Graves and Audrey Lamberth, who made the cheer squads at Texas Christian University, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Oklahoma, respectively.

Sarah Nicole Gibson
Gibson, 18, daughter of Jeff and Karin is a member of National Honor Society, PALS, and Partner’s PE. She is very active in her community and loves to help others. Gibson is a five-time All American, Top All American, National and World Champion. She was recently selected to be a Texas Christian University cheerleader through a very tough tryout process. Gibson will be a member of TCU Class of 2022 and will be majoring in Nursing.

“It has always been my dream to cheer at the collegiate level and to do so in the Big 12 at TCU is an absolute honor.  Go Frogs!” Gibson said.

Brooke Graves
Graves is cheering on the coed cheerleading team at the University of Texas in Austin. She was the head cheerleader of Rockwall-Heath Varsity. Graves was a NCA All-American cheerleader and has been recognized by TGCA Texas All-State and All Star. During her four years of school cheer she has been awarded with highest GPA, most community service hours, best base and best overall leader. She has cheered competitively with Cheer Athletics since 3rd grade, where she is also recognized as a CA A.L.L.S.T.A.R. Icon.

Graves plans on majoring in biology and following the pre-med track as she is enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences. She finished as number 41 of her class and was elected as Student Council president. Graves is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and HOSA. She was very involved in the health science program at RHHS, participating in clinical rotations at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall and a practicum in health sciences with Dr. Gregg T. Podleski and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.

Graves said she is excited to join Greek life, cheer and further her passion for the medical field in Austin, Texas.

“Cheering for the Hawks under the Friday night lights was fun, but I cannot wait for Saturdays in Darrel K. Royal Stadium! Hook ‘em Horns!”

Audrey Lamberth
Lamberth graduated from Rockwall-Heath High School with academic honors and recognition for 100+ hours of community service this year. She was involved in many school activities including Senior Class Officer, National Honor Society, and co-head cheerleader of the RHHS varsity squad to name a few.  After a competitive two-day tryout process, Lamberth was recently named a University of Oklahoma Cheerleader and is excited to be cheering on the Sooners in the fall.  As a three-time NCA All-American, NCA Top All-American and TGCA Texas All-State Cheerleader, and a member of the RHHS NCA National Championship team, Lamberth said she has been preparing for such an honor.

“Cheerleading is my passion and being a part of the OU Cheer Team will be an experience to cherish,” Lamberth said. “The hard work is just beginning but cheering the Sooners to victory is worth it all.  Boomer Sooner!”

Lamberth will be majoring in biology with an intent to enter a pre-physician’s associate program.
