(ROCKWALL, TX – August 8, 2018) Tucked away on a small dirt road called Prayer Circle is a gorgeous three-acre property known as Prayer Lavender Garden (247 Prayer Cir, Rockwall, TX 75032). The family-owned business offers the perfect place for a relaxing stroll through its rows of beautiful lavender blooms. Located right here in Rockwall County, the farm is open every weekend in June through December.

Blue Ribbon News recently took a tour of Prayer Lavender Garden and we’re excited to share our experience at this wonderful little lavender oasis.

The Garden

In June 2018 Kyle and Tera Griffin opened their farm for families to come and enjoy beautiful blooms while they learn more about lavender plants. Lavender has many uses to go along with its attractive appearance, and grows well under abundant sunshine and well-drained soil.

The Griffin family currently grows three different types of lavender: Phenomenal, Grosso, and Hidcote. When you drive up to the white entrance gate, you’ll catch your first glimpse of some impressive Phenomenal Lavender plants. This medium size plant consists of pale green foliage and purple flowers when it blooms. It also does well in extreme heat, an attribute Kyle agrees is very beneficial during blistering Texas summers.

From the entrance, the garden trail continues around a charming residence set at the center of the property. The garden’s back half showcases the dark blue spikes of the Grosso lavender plant and the colorful Hidcote lavender variety. You’ll also see a few rows of the farm’s most recent addition, blueberry plants. There is also a playground area just for kids nestled amongst the beautiful scenery.

The Daily Bread Café

The Griffins incorporate much of the herbs and spices they grow on the farm into several of their menu items. They serve all their sandwiches on a Kaiser roll and season them with homegrown spice blends. The Blueberry Lavender Lemonade blends its two namesake flavors perfectly to make a refreshing and delicious beverage.

The café offers some lighter options as well, such as hummus served with warm pitta bread and a Greek Salad made with a Spring lettuce mix, pickled onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, Feta cheese, banana peppers, and a Mediterranean vinaigrette.

Folks can also craft their very own 12-inch or 24-inch wreath made of dried lavender flowers!
