Rockwall County Library Offers Free Fun for the Whole Family

(ROCKWALL, TX — October 29, 2018) If you’re looking to get creative and have some fun with the family, head to the Rockwall County Library. The library offers tons of free programs featuring interactive storytime, crafts, music and adventures the whole family can enjoy together.

Pajama Storytime (English and Spanish)

Rockwall County Library Pajama StorytimeWhat could be better than enjoying a good story before bedtime? Put on some comfy jammies and get cozy with the whole family with fun stories, songs and laughter! Follow up the entertaining storytime with milk and cookies provided by Tom Thumb and Friends of the Rockwall County Library. Librarian Stephanie Milberger leads Pajama Storytime in English for families on the second Thursday of every month. Spanish-speaking families can also enjoy Pajama Storytime with Dobbs Elementary teachers Olga Colon and Danyra McCarthy on the third Tuesday of the month. Both storytime sessions are held from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

Baby Bounce

Rockwall County Library Baby BounceHave a blast with your babies during the Baby Bounce storytime at the library! This fun and structured interactive time for infants ages 12 months and under features lots of rhymes, music and touch. The fun begins every Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.

 

Walking Ones

Rockwall County Library Walking OnesChildren ages 12-23 months will enjoy music, sensory activities and short books during this popular storytime. Sessions begin on Fridays at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., with a limit of 30 children per session. Continuous adult participation is required. Grab a ticket at the Youth Services desk beginning at 10 a.m. on program days.

Terrific Twos

Rockwall County Library Terrific TwosRead stories, sing songs and have fun with your little ones during this terrific program! Terrific Twos storytime is held Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. for children ages 24 months and up. Parents and caregivers must attend with their kids.

Preschool Time

Rockwall County Library Preschool TimeBring your kiddos to the library for this entertaining 30-minute program for ages 3-6. Kids will enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes, followed by a fun craft project centered around the storytime theme. The program starts at 11:15 a.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Good Listeners

Rockwall County Library Good ListenersGot kids ages 4 and up who are excellent listeners? Bring them to the library for this fun 45-60 minute program full of stories, songs, activities and crafts! This program is strictly for ages four and older, and parents with younger children will need to supervise them outside the programming room. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Pawsitive Reading with Love on a Leash

Rockwall County Library Pawsitive ReadingEnjoy a good read alongside a friendly dog during this special program put on by the Rockwall County Library and Love on a Leash Pet Therapy. These adorable furry reading companions come to the library for storytime on the first and third Friday and first Tuesday of the month. On Fridays, sign up at the Youth Services Desk for a 15-minute time slot between 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., or between 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Teen Tuesdays

Rockwall County Library Teen TuesdaysTeens in grades 7-12 looking for some free fun after school need look no further than Teen Tuesdays at the Rockwall County Library! Teen Tuesdays are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 4:15 p.m to 6 p.m. and feature tons of fun activities and crafts. Join Librarian Stephanie Milberger on Tuesday, Nov. 6, for snacks and the opportunity to make your very own Slinky Dink awesomeness! And for the Teen Tuesday in December, don’t miss the chance to build your very own snow globe! Teen Tuesdays meets in the Teen Area on the first floor of the library (no registration required).

Girls (+ Guys) Who Code

Rockwall County Library Girls Who CodeThis program for teens in grades 7 and up teaches the fundamentals of computer science through teamwork exercises. During each meeting, club members work together on a project to solve a problem using computer science. The project exposes members to a variety of computer languages and programs, while helping build teamwork and leadership skills. Participants only need a valid email address to participate, no programming knowledge required! The club meets Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Tech Lab on the second floor of the library.
