Our full color, hyper-local print edition is now published monthly and direct mailed free to more than 22,000+ homes throughout Rockwall and Heath (75087 & 75032 zip codes).

Extra copies are available for pick up at the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, the JER Chilton YMCA, the Rockwall County Library, Sterling Tea Spot, Joe Willy’s, and various other local businesses. Meals on Wheels often delivers copies to area homebound seniors along with their meals. Additional copies of the print edition are available on a first-come, first-served basis by calling 214-342-8000. Due to high demand, there is a $5 charge to cover postage and handling when mailing out additional copies.

Blue Ribbon News Editor-in-Chief Dawn Redig has 30 years experience in print and broadcast journalism. She is a former Dallas Morning News editor, reporter and columnist. Her work experience also includes The Beaumont Enterprise, The Orange Leader, KBMT-TV Channel 12, Hall Publications/Nintendo/NFL Playoff, CBS Radio, and Lamar University/University Press.

Dawn serves on the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County and the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, where she is part on the Awareness Committee. She is active in the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, where her husband serves as Chairman of the Board. She is a charter member of the Rockwall Professional Women’s Alliance.

Blue Ribbon News Editor and Senior Staff Writer/Reporter Austin Wells is a graduate of the University of North Texas where he studied radio, television, and film. He’s a pretty awesome photographer, too!

Austin is a native of Rockwall and graduated from Rockwall High School in 2007. He has worked for the Rockwall Herald Banner and CBS Radio. He is the author of Images of America: Heath, which captures the history of Heath, TX through vintage photos. He serves on the board of the Rockwall County Historical Foundation and is a member of Young Professionals of Rockwall. He has performed on stage with the Rockwall Community Playhouse.

Mary Bierds is our Blue Ribbon News Brand Ambassador. You will find her just about everywhere in the community, sharing and discovering good news, taking photographs and doing live facebook broadcasts at the many events she participates in. She is a business graduate of Texas A&M University – College Station and is currently studying post graduate graphic design.  She grew up in South Texas and has a background in finance and recruiting.

She currently serves as gala chair for the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, on the ball board for Rockwall Women’s League, and a member of Rockwall Noon Rotary.  She lives in Heath with her husband, three kids and Yorkie and enjoys volunteering in the community, fitness, and is a game show junkie (she has been a contestant on both Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire).

Amy Sidebottom is our Lead Designer and Layout Editor whom we rely on for just about everything. You name it, she does it – from ad creation and copy writing to layout of our monthly publication. She truly has a can-do attitude. She is fast, she is brilliant – and she always brings treats and homemade cookies to the office on birthdays and holidays. She came to us from the Dallas Morning News and you can call on her for anything!

Keri Porter is BRN Media Assistant and Media Manager. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BA in Anthropology (bioarchaelogy and osteology) and a minor in Advertisting (video game and technology advertising) – and she is working with us part-time while she’s at grad school. She is a creative genius with a wealth of social media expertise, and serves our marketing clients well with her unique insight and knowledge of all social media platforms.

Casey Washington serves as a Media Assistant and keeps us on track and on schedule. She has a background in education and previously taught fourth grade at Royse City ISD and first grade at Stonebrook Academy. She worked as a library assistant at Texas A&M Commerce, and as a tea infusionist. She even wrote murder mysteries and hosted private murder mystery parties for her own business, Nightshade Entertainment. She manages our marketing calendar, assists with promotional campaigns and social media management for our BRN Media clients.

Samantha Redig works as a summer intern, assisting with social media and marketing services. She is a senior studying Psychology at Oklahoma Christian University.

And yes, she is the amazingly talented daughter of our Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Dawn Redig and our BRN Media Services Marketing Director Richard Redig.

David Sweet pens “County Corner” column which is featured monthly in Blue Ribbon News. David currently serves as Rockwall County Judge. He previously served two terms as the Mayor of the City of Rockwall and as a City Council members.

Our Universe Today is written by Blue Ribbon News guest columnist, Max Corneau, aka AstroDad, of Rockwall. Max retired from the U.S. Army in 2009 as a Lieutenant Colonel, Senior Space Operations Officer and Master Aviator.  He amassed over 3,200 hours as a pilot of Special Electronic Mission Airplanes.  Since 2004 he has been a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, is a Master of Astronomical Outreach through the Astronomcial League and built his own astronomical observatory.
