Hot Havana Night returns to benefit Rockwall’s Women in Need

ROCKWALL, TX (June 1, 2021) Hot Havana Night returns to an in-person event this year! Women In Need, Inc., invites you to join them in turning up the heat on domestic violence.

Hot Havana Night will happen on Saturday, August 14 at the Emerald Ballroom in Greenville. The evening will officially get underway at 6 p.m. On the Border will cater the dinner. In addition to a special presentation, participants will enjoy a silent auction, a live auction, a contest with awards for winning salsa entries, and dancing.

What does it mean to turn up the heat on domestic violence? First, it means becoming more aware of the sad prevalence of domestic violence in the communities served by Women In Need. From January through May of 2020, there were 108 incidents of family violence reported to law enforcement agencies in Hunt County. From January through May of 2021, there were 170 incidents of family violence reported in Hunt County. That’s a 57% increase. Correspondingly, Women In Need is seeing an increased request for services.

Second, turning up the heat on domestic violence means partnering with Women In Need to provide much-needed resources to victims. By providing a sponsorship, providing a silent or live auction item, purchasing event tickets, and entering your salsa in the contest, Women In Need’s staff can continue providing crisis intervention, safety planning, court accompaniment, temporary shelter, and prevention education.
