Rockwall Youth Fair
Mar 20 – Mar 23 all-day

Activities of this year’s Youth Fair kick off on Wednesday, March 20 with the Agriculture Mechanics Show. Throughout the year, students of the Rockwall County FFA and 4-H Clubs have a chance to tap into their creative side by fabricating their own metal pieces such as fire pits, chairs and trailers. They then display their handiwork for sale during the fair and for judging

The highlight of the Rockwall Youth Fair is the Livestock Show and Market Sale, when young people from across the county in 4-H and FFA demonstrate their skills and disciplines in breeding and showing market animals. The Livestock Show consists of the following:  Market Rabbits, Market Hogs, Market Goats, Market Lambs, Market Steers, Breeding Rabbits, Breeding Market Goats, Breeding Cavies, Breeding Beef, and Market Broilers.

The Market Sale is held immediately after the livestock show and presents an opportunity for the local community to support Rockwall youth involved in agriculture projects.

The YFOR works together with the Rockwall County Extension Service, Rockwall 4-H Clubs, Rockwall FFA Chapters,

Mar 22 @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Gather your friends and get ready for the 6th Annual REF Bowling Classic on March 22nd at Shenaniganz-Rockwall.

Join us for an evening of fun, fellowship and philanthropy as teams compete for the highly coveted “Grand Champion” trophy or walk away with the “First Place Loser” award. In addition to the tournament, bowlers and guests can bid on one-of-a-kind silent auction items and enter our Restaurant Extravaganza raffle, all while benefiting Rockwall ISD students and educators.

The REF operates separately from the school district, and this event, with your help, sustains existing programs, such as the Innovative Teaching Grants, and provides resources that otherwise aren’t possible for RISD students.

Rockwall Art League March demo: “Landscape Painting and the Search for Soulfulness” with Robert A Dye @ Harry Myers Park Community Center
Mar 27 @ 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Robert A. Dye will present “Landscape Painting and the Search for Soulfulness” at our next member meeting on March 27th, 2024.  Robert will discuss the evolution and social function of landscape painting, historically, and up to the present.  In his presentation, Robert will explain the methodology of his recent works in which he combines the careful study of geometry and of nature with the painterly playfulness of abstract expressionism. Also included will be a discussion of his personal history and the current of art history with musings about the future of landscape painting in the global electronic information age.

Robert is a professional artist and writer who paints evocative large-scale landscape and abstract paintings and intimate plein air paintings. His large studio paintings exude richness in light-saturated oils. Additionally, he paints smaller plein air landscapes in oils and in watercolors. Robert’s paintings are held in private collections throughout the U.S. and in Europe. He has had numerous one-person shows of his work in Philadelphia and in Dallas.
