Rockwall, TX (March 23, 2023) – The Rockwall Fire Department is actively enrolling participants for the 2023 Citizen’s Fire Academy. This free program offers citizens the opportunity to experience behind the scenes – and hands on – fire department operations.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about your fire department and build your own awareness of fire and life safety procedures. Class topics and activities include emergency equipment, organizational structure, the Fire Marshal’s office, volunteer fire fighter program, and a ride-out with firefighters. Participants will also experience real training scenarios including search & rescue, extrication, investigations and more!
Classes last 6 weeks (recently updated by the Fire Department) and are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. with one additional Saturday period. Tuition is free. Participants must be 18 years old or 16 years old with parental consent. Sign up online for this unique experience because classes start soon!
