Meals on Wheels Gardening Tea Luncheon

Save the date for the spring event of the year in the Rockwall Meals on Wheels 5th Annual Gardening Tea Luncheon on Thursday, March 8, at the Hidden Creek Events Center in Heath. The annual MOWSS Gardening Tea Luncheon has become a staple event in the community. 200 guests will enjoy a wonderful plated meal catered by Zanata, with refreshing hot and cold teas paired perfectly from Sterling Tea and a fun raffle drawing at the end of the program.

19th Annual USO Show

Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School Music Director Jan Stonestreet, and the Starlight Singers are showcasing the music from the Vietnam War in the 19th Annual USO Show. The event will be held at Cain Middle School located on 6620 FM 3097, Rockwall, TX 75032.

Heath Hawks Holiday Hustle 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Holiday-Hustle-Ad-FinalRockwall-Heath High School will host its 2nd Annual Heath Hawks Holiday Hustle 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Runners are encouraged to dress in their most festive attire as they hustle through Heath with the Hawks Cross Country Team. Medals will be awarded to age group winners and all registered participants will be eligible for door prizes.

If you are not a runner but would still like to support our team, no worries, just register as a couch potato participant and you will receive one of our awesome race shirts without ever leaving the comfort of your couch. Following the race, you can warm up and refuel at Pancakes for the Park in the RHHS cafeteria benefitting the Sammy Knostman Memorial Fund.

Free E-Waste Collection

 

The City of Heath will sponsor a free e-waste recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon at Rockwall-Heath High School football field, and will accept this e-waste: TV’s, computer monitors, laptops, printers, hard drives, fax machines, gaming consoles, VCR’s, cell phones, radios, cable and cords, CPU’s, keyboards, mice, tape and zip drives, microwaves, DVD players, telephones, digital cameras, stereo components, power supllies, modems, switches, printed circuit boards, video conference equipment, ink and toner cartridges, batteries. (Everything else WILL not be accepted.)

Paper shredding will be available. Eyeglasses will be collected for the Lion’s Club.

Rockwall Heath Early Childhood PTA Round Up

Join the parents of Rockwall Heath Early Childhood PTA for a morning of bouncing, splashing and fun from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 24 at the Harry Myers Splash Park and Pavilion.

The RHECPTA kicks off each school year with ROUND UP to gather old members and welcome new members to the group.

The RHECPTA is a group of parents of birth to kinder-aged children who gather throughout the year for play dates, adult time, philanthropy and fun. Come out to play, meet new friends, and learn more about the group.

Heath Independence Day Parade

(HEATH,TX—May 16, 2016) For a patriotic hometown American experience, join the festivities at the City of Heath’s Annual Independence Day Parade on Monday, July 4.

Parade entry awards will be presented during a patriotic celebration immediately after the parade in Towne Center Park featuring a live barbershop quartet and free popsicles and PIE! (Blueberry and cherry, of course.)

Staging for the parade is at 8 a.m., judging and awards are at 8:30 a.m., and the parade begins at 9 a.m. at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School at 330 Laurence Drive.

A Best Decorated Award is presented in several categories including: Float; Bicycle; Wagon/Stroller; Golf Cart; Off-Road Vehicle; and Antique Car. There are also awards for Best Costume; Most Patriotic Pet; Most Spirited; and the Mayor’s Award.

The City’s Special Events Board is also encouraging a little friendly competition among neighborhoods with a new award for the BEST NEIGHBORHOOD/HOA FLOAT!

As always, the City of Heath invites veterans from any branch of the U.S. Military to ride in the parade on the Veterans Float.

City of Heath offices will be closed in observance of the holiday on Monday, July 4.

Reminders:
*Please plan ahead for brief traffic delays. The intersection of Laurence Drive and FM 740/FM 1140 will be closed during the parade from approximately 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on July 4.

Heath Town Hall Meeting on Assessed Property Values

The City of Heath will host a Town Hall Meeting on assessed property values and tax rates on Thursday, May 26, 7 p.m. at Heath City Hall in the Community Room.

The program will be presented by Patricia Davis, Chief Appraiser, Rockwall Central Appraisal District.

If you have questions about your appraisal values and taxes, this meeting is the place to be! Heath City Hall is located at 200 Laurence Drive, Heath.

Book signing for local author Shelley Garrett

Local author Shelley Garrett will hold a book signing for her newly-published cookbook, Good Food: Recipes That Keep Them Coming Back, at Corner Street Pub in Greenville (2702 Lee St) on Saturday, May 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All proceeds will go towards the Kaufman County Children’s Shelter serving the children of Rockwall.

Local author Shelley Garrett will hold a book signing for her newly-published cookbook, Good Food: Recipes That Keep Them Coming Back, at Uptown Downtown Art Gallery and Studio in Rockwall on Saturday, April 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds will go towards the Kaufman County Children’s Shelter serving the children of Rockwall.
