Piano student gives senior recital at First Presbyterian Church Rockwall

(ROCKWALL, TX — August 2, 2017) Ben Fields, son of Drs. Theodore and Alexia Fields, recently gave a senior piano recital at the First Presbyterian Church in Rockwall.  A 12-year piano student of Michele McDonald, Ben presented works by Beethoven, Chopin, Turina, Scriabin and others.

Born and raised in Texas, Ben began his formal education at Country Day and Lakeland Academy Montessori schools in Rockwall and Union Valley. He later moved to Reinhardt Elementary where he was a Math Olympiad winner. A graduate of Utley Middle School, he was a trombonist in the band and a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  A recent graduate of Rockwall High School, Ben participated in the Marching and Concert Bands, Jazz Band, Science Club and National Honor Society. He was a Top 10 Student. Ben started learning computer programming on his own in the fifth grade. He built his own computer, and he enjoys combining creative design with computer skills.

As a pianist, Ben has performed in the A&M Commerce Fall Festival Honors Recitals, numerous Rockwall Music Teachers events, where he frequently placed in competitions, as well as UIL Local and State Competitions.  Ben received theory medals all 12 years for nearly perfect scores on annual theory tests. He will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas to work on an engineering degree.
