(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 23, 2019) Collection boxes are being placed at several locations throughout Rockwall County this week, where folks can drop off donations of winter clothing for pickup by Monday, Nov. 18. These items will be distributed during We Are Rockwall’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, set for noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Utley Middle School, 1201 TL Townsend Drive.

Among the winter clothing items being collected are new or gently used blankets, hats, gloves, jackets, socks, and scarves – in sizes ranging from infants to adults. (See below for a current list of drop box locations).

We Are Rockwall (WAR) organizes events connecting local churches and nonprofit organizations in a collaborated effort to reach across the racial, social, and economic barriers of Rockwall County, helping both the hurting and the healthy exist as one community.

Their annual, community-wide Thanksgiving meal is designed to bring the Rockwall community together for a few hours to celebrate God’s goodness and give thanks. This year, organizers expect to feed 800 people. Among them will be homebound seniors served by Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County, as volunteers will deliver food from the Thanksgiving feast to them.

This is an entirely free event, supported entirely by donations. Everyone is invited to join the festivities, which will include free flu vaccinations, raffle prizes, entertainment, as well as “blessing bags” (groceries) and preparedness packets.

For $25 your family can adopt-a-table and serve the guests that sit at your table throughout the event.
