Jason Castro to headline at QueFest Labor Day weekend

(Garland/Rowlett) With headliner acts like American Idol finalist Jason Castro of Rockwall and Houston-born country artist John Slaughter, the Rowlett Exchange Club’s second annual QueFest celebration is expected to draw large crowds to Firewheel Town Center in Garland on Labor Day weekend.

The nonprofit organization’s two-day charity event combines non-stop, sizzling hot entertainment with fair food favorites and world class Texas barbecue. Funds raised will help support child abuse prevention, including Exchange Club service projects like Cyber Tip Line Education, Time Out Teddy, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Education, and the Blue Ribbon Campaign.

With great food like Fletcher’s Corny Dogs, a great cause, children’s activities, and a growing musical line-up, QueFest 2011 means fun for the whole family.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 4. John Slaughter will perform Saturday evening; Jason Castro will take the stage on Sunday. Check quefest.org for additional updates as information becomes available.

General admission will be $10 for adults. Children under 11 will be admitted free, as will active duty military personnel, with ID. There will be a $5 charge for parking.

Exchange is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and enjoy new friendships. The Noon Exchange Club of Rowlett meets at noon on the first and third Thursday of each month at Islamorada at Bass Pro Shops. However, there are no meetings scheduled for August.
