Basic Art Workshop for adults, older teens

(Rockwall) Beginning and aspiring artists age 15 and up may develop their knowledge and skill during the Basic Art Workshop for Adults at ArtVentures Studio, located at 507 N. Goliad St. in Rockwall.

ArtVentures owner and instructor Joetta Currie will lead the comprehensive, basic drawing and painting class, helping to increase students’ visual perception and understanding of the basic elements of art: line, shape, space, color, texture, and form. Participants will focus on developing good composition, understanding linear perspective and use of light and shadow.

A presentation of basic color theory, color mixing and simple brush work with acrylic paint will give students an opportunity to explore on their own. Students will spend most of their class time learning how to make a work of art, but a small landscape painting utilizing the information learned in the workshop will be created by each student.

All supplies are included, and students will leave the class with reference material and resource information.

Class times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. The cost is $165.
