Shelter pets feelin’ groovy with new promotion

The Rockwall Animal Adoption Center has a groovy thing going during August.

Rockwall Pets is sponsoring the “Summer of Love: 60s Power!” pet adoption promotion. The Rockwall shelter is lowering the adoption fee by $60 for any pet who has spent 60 days or longer at the facility.

That means the adoption fee for eligible dogs is only $25 during the promotion. Eligible cats can be adopted at no charge. The “Summer of Love: 60s Power!” promotion runs through August only.

The Rockwall shelter has a number of wonderful dogs and cats who have spent more than two months looking for a home. Some of the pets are at the shelter and some are being housed in private foster homes. Others are available at adoption partners like Ridge Road Animal Hospital, Stonebridge Veterinary Hospital, the Red Wolf Resort and Ponderosa Pet Resort. It’s all part of an effort by Rockwall Pets volunteers to make the shelter a no kill facility by next year.

Pets eligible for the promotion are identified by peace signs on their kennels.
The Rockwall Animal Adoption Center is located at 1825 Airport Road. The facility is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Pets eligible for the “Summer of Love: 60s Power!” promotion will also be available at various off-site adoption events during August, including the Rockwall Farmers Market and Find-a-Friend at the Rockwall Petco every Saturday.

Photos and information on all the adoptable pets at the Rockwall facility are available at rockwallpets.com. The promotion is being underwritten by donations to Rockwall Pets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the adoption of Rockwall’s shelter pets.
