Artists ‘Round Texas to welcome children’s book illustrator

(Rowlett) Join Artists ‘Round Texas as they welcome children’s book illustrator Laura Schmidt at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Rowlett Community Centre, 5300 Main St.

Schmidt, whose appreciation for art began in the first grade, eventually had formal training at the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts and Design, where she earned a Master’s degree in art education. 

The Dallas-ite loves art in all forms – especially narrative art. She discovered that the best antidote to chaos is a good book, and books have a calming influence on children. She decided to take her creative work seriously and become an illustrator of children’s books.
