Lions Club cleans up 2 mile stretch of Hwy 548

(Royse City) Members of the Royse City Lions Club gathered from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 to pick up 25 large bags of trash along FM 548 as part of the service organization’s 2 mile stretch of Adopt-a-Highway. Seven Lions Club members and three additional volunteers served their community by walking the ditches and roadway to beautify their city.

The Adopt-A-Highway program of the Texas Department of Transportation gives groups the opportunity to help their communities by collecting litter and beautifying local roadsides. The program started in 1985. There are currently 176 groups participating in the Dallas-area Adopt-a-Highway program to help keep our roadsides litter-free.
