(Dallas) Longsworth Insurance Agency, located at 3110 Webb Ave., Suite 201 in Dallas, Texas 75205, has been invited to participate in the True Blue Business Recognition Series, a program that publicly recognizes exceptional companies and business owners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that are “doing business right.”

Scott Sams, morning show host at KRLD NewsRadio 1080 and former news anchor at CBS 11 and WFAA-TV Channel 8, interviewed Jay Longsworth, family insurance professional and owner of Longsworth Insurance Agency (a member of Farmers Insurance Group), to gain insight into the practices and core beliefs that make Longsworth Insurance Agency a True Blue Business. A portion of the interview will air on KRLD in November. The full conversation and video will be featured at BlueRibbonNews.com, DFW’s online community news source that highlights good news and events from area neighborhoods, churches, schools, businesses, clubs and organizations.

Companies identified as True Blue Businesses deliver quality goods and services while demonstrating a strong commitment to their customers, employees, and the community. They act with honesty and integrity, are “true blue” and loyal to the people they serve, and often go the extra mile. In short, they are the companies that Dallas-Fort Worth can count on.

News anchor Scott Sams shakes the hand of Jay Longsworth, whose insurance agency was just named a True Blue DFW Business.

True Blue Businesses are approved based on information obtained through comprehensive interviews and research. The evaluation process involves input from principles, officers, management, employees, and customers to determine a company’s ability to consistently demonstrate the following:

  • honesty and integrity in day-to-day dealings with customers, in the management of employees, in interactions with the community;
  • responsiveness in resolving customer complaints, handling employee matters, and adapting to changing market conditions;
  • and goodwill toward customers, employees, and the community.

“I’m honored that Longsworth Insurance Agency has been recognized as a True Blue Business,” said Longsworth. His agency, which primarily writes Farmers Insurance products, offers a full line of auto, home, life, and commercial insurance, and serves more than 850 clients while maintaining a 92 percent client retention rate.

“As a client I can only say that I am not surprised that Longsworth Insurance Agency has been recognized in this way,” said Thomas Austin of Dallas. “My family and I are regular beneficiaries of Jay’s professionalism, courtesy, and honesty. It is a great comfort for me to have Jay representing our insurance needs. I have been able to count on him on multiple occasions to give me great advice and provide me with detailed and relevant information when it comes to deciding on the type, scope, and level of insurance.”

Longsworth said that other agents are often more concerned with earning business based solely on developing a plan that gives the lowest premium rather than making sure their clients are properly insured. He believes in first educating the client so they have a full understanding of the insurance product – what it protects, where the potential gaps in coverage may be – and then he develops a plan to make sure they are correctly insured.

“Only after that has been completed do we discuss premium,” he said. “My new clients routinely state that I am the first agent who has ever taken the time to fully explain policy coverages in detail, which is always surprising to me.”

Unlike most agents, Longsworth personally inspects the homes of clients before recommending a homeowners’ insurance plan that best meets their needs.

“How can an agent recommend or calculate the coverage amount for a house if they have never seen it? That’s like a doctor diagnosing your illness without ever seeing you in person,” he said. “If your house is different and unique from all the other houses, your insurance coverage needs to be unique as well.”

He added, “I am committed to helping my clients understand that the true value of insurance rests in knowing the difference between simply having insurance and being properly insured.”

Longsworth serves on the Rockwall County Family YMCA Board and supports the YMCA Partners Campaign and the March of Dimes.
