The Lights On Ice Outdoor Ice Rink at Frisco Square is open for skating through Jan. 8, 2012.

This real ice skating rink is 50’ x 85’; located at the southwest corner of Main St. and Coleman Blvd. across from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. This daily event is in addition to the already popular, family-friendly weekend events scheduled during the 6thannual Christmas in the Square.

The outdoor ice rink offers skating opportunities through Jan 8.

More than 500,000 people attended Christmas in the Square in 2010. The event is heralded as the third largest in North Texas behind the State Fair of Texas and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

For the first time in over ten years in the DFW Metro area, outdoor ice skating is available Monday through Thursday between the hours of 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday noon to 10 p.m. except on Christmas Day and weather permitting.

The ice skating cost is $10 per person, per day, including skate rentals with open public skating for as long as people want to stay within the open and close times. To reserve the ice rink for private use, the cost is $200 per hour.

“Come join us to skate and celebrate the season on the rink as we welcome special guests for exhibitions and performances throughout the season,” said Sarah Catherine Norris, CPM and President of Sooner Management, LLC.

“Frisco Square is excited to partner with Sooner Management LLC, who is presenting the Lights On Ice Outdoor Ice Rink. By adding outdoor ice skating as another entertainment option for friends and families who are attending Christmas in the Square, perfectly complements the popular weekend events in December. Along with the dazzling light show, in partnership with the City of Frisco, that is choreographed to holiday music, hot chocolate, cider, snow machines, an inner tubing snow slide, carriage rides, and so much more, we anticipate a traditional, memory making season for all who attend,” said Cathy Sweeney, a Managing Partner at Frisco Square.

Most events are free to the public.
