Rowlett Rotary earns recognition from Chamber

The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce recently named the Rotary Club of Rowlett as the Business/Organization of the Month for December 2011.

Leon Dudley, Brad Daniels, Paul Atwood, Scott Brittell, Dale Raspberry and Micky Shaw were on hand to graciously accept the award on Dec. 14.

Criteria for earning this award includes modeling high ethical standards, practicing exemplary customer service, demonstrating “can do” attitude, upholding Chamber goals, supporting Rowlett citizens and businesses, and maintaining Chamber membership.

Rotary is a service organization.  The Rotary Club of Rowlett is involved in a number of projects and charities in the local area including Adopt a Rowlett Angel Tree, Rowlett Needy Children’s Fund, Rowlett Teacher of the Year, Community Blood Drive, and the Rotary Flag Program.

Not only do Rotarians provide for local charities, Rotary International has taken a primary role in the eradication of polio from the planet and are helping ensure clean water in under developed areas.  The club has given more than $6,000 to groups in need of assistance.

The Rotary Club of Rowlett meets at noon Tuesdays at Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse, 9900 Lakeview Parkway in Rowlett.
