Light display extended for NCAA championship game

Frisco’s Christmas in the Square’s holiday lights display, located at Main Street and Coleman Boulevard, will continue through Sunday, Jan. 8 to welcome the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game that will be played at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, Jan. 7 and broadcast via ESPN2.

The game will be played at the 23,500-seat Pizza Hut Park located across from Frisco Square.

This championship game is hosted by the locally-based Southland Conference, the City of Frisco, and the Hunt Sports Group and is the culmination of a 20-team championship bracket.

The Lights on Ice outdoor ice skating rink is also open through Jan. 8 and is sponsored by Sooner Management, LLC. A New Year’s Eve Skating Spectacular will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, followed by a public skate until 10 p.m.

Daily ice skating remains available under the lights and music of Christmas in the Square Monday through Friday, 2 to 10 p.m., and Sat and Sun, noon to 10 p.m., at a cost of $10 per person including skate rentals. Scallywags Pirate Ship will be serving hot chocolate, coffee, packaged cookies, and shaved Ice for sale through January 8th, and the event includes FREE Admission to the Light Show.
