Rays of Light gala to help special needs kids, families

(Dallas) Rays of Light, a Dallas-based nonprofit organization that helps special needs children and their families, will host its second annual Shine On Gala on Friday, April 27 at the Park Cities Hilton.

Last year the gala raised more than $83,000. This year’s event includes a VIP cocktail hour, live auction, live band, and a three course dinner. The fundraising event will help Rays of Light to continue providing its free respite care offered two Friday nights a month for special needs children and their siblings.

The live auction has several large items including a University of Texas football weekend with tickets to a home football game and a hotel room and tickets to the Cotton Bowl; a week trip to the Residents Club Aviara in San Diego, California with airfare included; a White River Inn fishing trip weekend with airfare included; and a one hour flight in a restored antique aircraft.

There will also be a raffle for a set of diamond earrings in 14kt white gold and a 50 inch plasma television.

The gala will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. in the Opio restaurant, followed by dinner at 7 in the ballroom. The live auction and dancing with the Hunter Sullivan Big Band follows. Discounted hotel rooms are available.
