‘Is there room for God in the election booth?’

The public is welcome as the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall Wesley Arts Lecture Series presents Dr. J. Matthew Wilson, editor of From Pews to Polling Places: Faith and Politics in the American Religious Mosaic, at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17.

Dr. Wilson, Associate Professor of Political Science at SMU, will address the impact of religion on the 2012 elections. He holds a a B. A. in history and political science from Louisiana State University, and his M.A. and PH.D. in political science from Duke University. Courses he has taught at SMU include Political Dynamics, and Religion and Politics focusing on the relationship between religious faith and political life from philosophical, theological, and historical perspectives. Dr. Wilson routinely serves as a commentator on political affairs for local, national and international media outlets.

Tickets are $5 and may be reserved at fumcrockwall.com or purchased in the church office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Childcare will be available at no charge, if reserved by calling 972-771-5500.
