(Rockwall) May 19, 2012 – Rest Haven Memorial Park, located at 2500 State Highway 66 East in Rockwall, will host its 38th Annual Memorial Day Celebration beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2012.

In addition to a patriotic ceremony and inspirational music, Rest Haven has partnered with the American Red Cross to sponsor a community-wide blood drive following the celebration.

“The American Red Cross does so much for our troops and their families,” said Dewayne Cain, President and Founder of Rest Haven Funeral Homes and Memorial Park.  “We are proud to help support the Red Cross’ Rock ‘N Roll Up Your Sleeve initiative by sponsoring a blood drive as part of our Annual Memorial Day Celebration.”

All blood donors will receive a Rock ‘N Roll t-shirt and be eligible to win a Gibson guitar. Also, each donor will receive a coupon for a free pint of Culver’s frozen custard through their “Give A Pint, Get A Pint” blood drive support program.

“There are several organizations that support Rest Haven’s Memorial Day Celebration every year,” Cain said. “The American Legion Post 117, the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard, and the Lakeshore Composite Squadron-TX 354 Civil Air Patrol will once again provide a meaningful presence at our event this year, and we simply could not do it without their help.”

The Andre Family Quartet, all members of the Lakeshore Composite Squadron, will perform a special rendition of the National Anthem, and the squadron Color Guard will present the Colors. The American Legion Post 117 will present the Memorial Wreath and the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard will provide an impressive rifle salute to conclude the program.

Michael J. Manley, who leads the Music and Worship Ministry at First Baptist Church Rockwall, will perform several patriotic favorites. Rest Haven’s own Matthew Lee will provide piano music both before and after the program. Alex Dumas, a trumpet player for the Rowlett High School Mighty Eagle Band, will perform Taps.

The event is free of charge and refreshments will be served after the ceremony.  Seating is available, but lawn chairs are welcome and encouraged.
