Rockwall Animal Rescue’s current focus is on rescuing Catahoula Leopards and herding breeds such as Aussies, Cattle Dogs (AKA Heelers),and Border Collies, but they also take in other breeds based on need and availability of space.

The group asks for an adoption fee of $125 to help offset costs of medical care.

“When you take home one of our furballs, they will have their shots up-to-date for their age, and they will have been tested/treated for worms. They will have been tested for heartworms if they are over 7 months old, and we start everyone on heartworm treatment/prevention medicines. Your new friend will also have a microchip to make it easier to find their way back to you if they get lost,” said Meri-Lou Mahoney.

Their website adds that “if things do not work out with your adopted pet, for any reason, we ask that you please return your pet to us. We will take any animal that we adopted out. There is no need to take the animal to a shelter or “pound” or to leave it on the street.”

The group is in need of donations and volunteers. If adoption is not an option for you yet, but you can offer monetary help or your time, let them know as soon as possible.
