Garland ISD offers free and reduced-price meal program

(Garland ISD) August 21, 2012 – Believing that proper nutrition plays an important role in education, Garland ISD will offer free and reduced-price meals to eligible students during the 2012-13 school year.

The district participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, which provide federal funding to cover the cost of discounted meals offered to families unable to pay full price. To qualify, a student must meet certain household size and parent income requirements. Copies of the 2012-13 guidelines are available through the Food Service Department and may be reviewed by interested parties.

Free and reduced-price meal application forms will also be printed in both English and Spanish, and sent home with all students after school begins. To apply, an adult household member should complete the form and return it to their child’s campus.

Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year, and all information is confidential. Additional copies will be available at the Food Services Department and in the office of each campus.

For more information, contact the Garland ISD Food Service Department at 972-494-8322.
