Raising Cane’s managers take Kidd’s Kids Glam Bag Challenge

Team race at annual conference benefits hospitalized girls

(Plano) August 3, 2012 – Raising Cane’s restaurant managers gathered from across the country for the company’s annual training conference last week, setting aside two hours to bring smiles to chronically ill girls.

In partnership with Charming Charlie, the UPS Store and the Kraddick Foundation — the organization founded by nationally syndicated radio personality Kidd Kraddick — the crewmembers divided into 26 teams and raced to see who could stuff their “glam bags” the fastest.  The project is an extension of the Foundation’s Glamour Squad program, which is designed to help bring a bit of glam and beauty to girls during their hospital stay and after they leave.

Each bag contained roughly five Charming Charlie items and a Raising Cane’s gift card, along with information about the Glamour Squad program.  Once stuffed, the bags were shipped to 21 hospitals in 12 markets: Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, Nacogdoches/Lufkin, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, New Orleans, Lake Charles, Monroe, Gulfport, Hattiesburg and Meridian.  Shipping was provided by the UPS Store on Cedar Springs Road in Dallas.

A total of 1,000 bags were stuffed during the 30 minute contest.

“The Cane’s managers were awesome,” said Kellie Rasberry, cast member of the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning show, who was on hand to cheer on the bag stuffers.  “I was amazed at how enthusiastically they threw themselves into the race.  You could tell they love their job and they really loved knowing that they were helping bring a smile to the faces of hundreds of sick girls.”

“Every year at our managers’ conference we include a charity project, in keeping with our corporate culture,” said Todd Graves, Raising Cane’s founder and CEO.  “We adopted the Kraddick Foundation as one of our signature charities earlier this year, so it made sense to do something for the children they serve.  It was great having Kellie, along with Derrick Brown and Lyndsay Davis from the Kraddick Foundation, out for the event so our crewmembers from around the country could get to know them and the charity a little better.”

Rasberry, Kraddick’s sidekick on America’s most popular morning radio program, also spoke to the 150 Cane’s managers before the contest.

“I’m so proud to be the spokesperson for Cane’s on our show not only because I love those incredible chicken fingers, and that scrumptious Cane’s sauce, and, of course, your sweet tea!” she gushed, “but also because I know how important giving back to the community is to Todd and to the entire company.  You folks make a huge difference in all the communities you serve, not just for Kidd’s Kids, but for so many other worthy causes.  It’s an honor to say I’m part of the Raising Cane’s family.”
