HeartChase: community event to fight heart disease, stroke

Team registration underway, sponsorships still available

Rockwall) September 12, 2012 – For people who enjoy friendly competition, the American Heart Association’s HeartChase is a community event that provides a fun new way to support a great cause, and it’s coming to Rockwall from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 20, at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.

Think Amazing Race meets Minute to Win It – a community-wide competition to solve clues and complete activities that engage friends and families of all ages in a race to the finish line. Along the way teams will sample a showcase of what is healthy in Rockwall and learn ways to live a healthier lifestyle. Participant teams of two to five people compete to complete adventures across Rockwall at a series of checkpoints around town.

HeartChase winners are the team that accumulates the most points.  Points will be earned by completing checkpoints, pre-event and text-to-give fundraising, locating and texting in clues along the way.  Periodic text updates will let teams know who’s in the lead, their current point totals, how much time is left in the chase and provide healthy tips.

The Presenting Sponsor of HeartChase is Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall. Texas Cardiac Associates is the Game Central Sponsor. Corporate Sponsors include Lake Pointe Medical Center, TrainUp Teen Fitness, and Rockwall Pediatrics & Urgent Kids. Other sponsors include Living Magazine, Rehab Management, Rockwall Cycling, Oasis Beach & Tennis Club, Agave Restaurant, and Shenaniganz. Additional sponsors are encouraged to join the adventure – to reinforce healthier lifestyle changes and to raise funds to support the fight against heart disease and stroke. Checkpoint Sponsorships, In-Kind Sponsorships, Heart Healthy Employer Sponsorships, Fringe Booth Sponsorships, and Auto Dealer Sponsorships are available.
