(Rockwall) September 12, 2012 – A talented troupe from the Rockwall Community Playhouse entertained a full room at the first meeting of the Friends of the Rockwall County Library.  Pamela Whitaker, a director of RCP productions, introduced vocalists and dancers who presented selections from current, past and future shows.

RCP opens its 17th season on September 21 with 9 to 5: The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton.  Talented vocalists gave the audience a preview of what is in store with “I Just Might” and “Backwoods Barbie.”

The mood quickly shifted with the poignant “As Long as He Needs Me” from the February 2013 production Oliver.   A dance ensemble and vocal picks from past shows rounded out the program, closing with selections from the upcoming productions of The King and I and Camelot.

Located at 609 East Rusk Street near downtown Rockwall, the RCP brings the performing arts to audiences in Rockwall and surrounding communities.  Schedules and ticket information for the 2012-2013 Season can be found at rockwallcommunityplayhouse.org.  The website also contains details about upcoming auditions, a Rockwall Children’s Playhouse workshop, Rockwall’s Got Talent 2013, and more.

Friends of the Rockwall County Library meets five times a year in the Community Room of the new library.  The sixth meeting is a Christmas Luncheon and is held at The Center at Rockwall CityPlace.  The program for the October 9 meeting is “Crime and Punishment:  The True Case of Meddie Bowles” presented by local historian Sheri Fowler.   Guests and visitors are welcome to attend meetings but reservations are required.  For more information and reservations, visit friendsofrockwallcountylibrary.com.
