Mary Kay Rocks the Runway was created by Cindy Sheppa, Independent Senior Sales Director along with the support of Sonya Cathey, Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Their vision is to help women and children in the community that have been affected by domestic violence.  Mary Kay Inc. with The Mary Kay Foundation has long been a supporter of women’s issues and specifically bringing awareness to the issue of domestic violence.  It will be a night to celebrate survivors of domestic violence while raising awareness and funds for those still fighting to break the cycle of abuse.

Women In Need provides vital services at no charge for victims of domestic violence.  These services range from emergency shelter and a 24 hour hotline to prevention education in local schools.  WIN sees an increased need for services in Rockwall and Hunt counties so community involvement is critical in supporting their mission. Whether you participate as a sponsor, volunteer or attend the fashion show you are having a direct impact on women and children who are healing from domestic violence.  We cannot expect to be safe in our communities until we are safe in our homes.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to commemorate this event, Senator Robert F. “Bob” Deuell will be presenting a proclamation on behalf of District 2 and the constituents that he serves.  The proclamation will   recognize that District 2 is supportive of Women In Need and Mary Kay’s efforts to help reduce the incidents of domestic violence.  Scheduled to appear and share their testimony will be “survivors” who have experienced Women In Need’s services first hand.

Shopping for a Cause through the onsite Halo Boutique, with the Independent Mary Kay Beauty consultants and Damsels In Defense the night of the event will also benefit Women In Need. 20% of all proceeds will go to WIN!  Join them October 29 for an evening of fashion, food and fun and to help them celebrate these survivors who have reclaimed their lives.
