(March 19, 2013) Just Between Friends, a Dallas consignor of children and maternity items, is celebrating their 10-year anniversary with their Spring Sale March 21-24, 2013 at the Mesquite Rodeo grounds.
Just Between Friends is the nation’s largest group of consignment sales and has hundreds of participating consignors and shoppers throughout DFW. JBF specializes in everything from strollers, baby furniture, clothes, toys and more.
“I have participated in multiple JBF sales, but I love the Dallas/Mesquite sale,” said Rockwall mom of two Tara Schwertner. “Not only is it huge, the owners are great ladies.”
JBF Dallas has two major sales each year, in spring and fall. Co-owners Susan Newhouse and Stacey Losher have a large following of consignors and shoppers in many areas surrounding the Mesquite sale, including Rockwall.
“I would estimate about 30% of our moms come from Rockwall,” said Losher, noting that moms come from all over to shop for baby and maternity equipment.
Most gently-worn items at the sales are estimated to sell at 30-90% off their retail price, and moms consigning their items typically get 60-70% of the sale price, higher than many other consignment stores.
“It’s a great way to clear out my stuff and make some money,” said Rockwall mom of three Lisa Stone. “JBF helps save money to make money. It’s a win-win.”
All items and equipment that are sold at the Just Between Friends sales are thoroughly inspected by expert volunteers for holes, tears, stains and factory recalls. JBF also rewards moms that consign, volunteers, teachers and first-time moms with early shopping days.
“It’s a great way to pass on well taken care of items to other moms,” Stone said, “Kids grow so fast, you can barely keep up with their growth in clothes or their interests in toys before you need new things. This is a great way to cut down on waste.”
Holly Moore is a Rockwall mom of two, a teacher and a sale volunteer. Moore said that she has seen many different types of shoppers at the JBF sales.
“People drive in from other states to shop at the sale,” Moore said, “We have some people who come in every year from non-profit organizations and women’s shelters as well to get things and it’s great to be able to help people in those programs.”
Moore said that the biggest items at the sale, such as strollers, car seats and cribs are the ones that sell the fastest, but hundreds of moms shop through the weekend.
“We are still very excited to be doing these sales after ten years in Dallas,” said Newhouse, “We love helping moms pass on these things that other moms need for their children. It’s a great way to make it more cost-effective for everyone and share a little wisdom from mom to mom.”
