Fashion students dress for success at Lux Masquerade

(ROCKWALL-May 10, 2013) What started as a school project is now cultivating the next generation of clothing designers and stylists in Rockwall.

Rockwall-Heath High School’s Fashion Design Department is staging its 7th annual fashion show called “Lux-Masquerade” on May 17 at Allure restaurant located in Chandler’s Landing, with assistance from the professional styling team at Heath Salon and Spa.

“This year’s event will showcase our student designers’ unique talents as well as the skills they have acquired through classwork,” said Julie Durst, Advanced Fashion Design teacher at Rockwall Heath High School. “And, we’ll complete the look by assigning a team member from Heath Salon and Spa to help with hair, make-up and nails.”

Students will also be working with sECOnd Evolution, a local clothing store that will provide clothing for the students as the base of their designs. The final result will be presented during the fashion including full run way modeling. The annual fashion extravaganza will also raise money for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the fashion industry.

“We are strong supporters of Rockwall schools and love the idea of helping bring student work to life,” said Jauna French, principal owner of Heath Salon and Spa. “ We’ll also donate products and gifts for the event to support the full “Lux” experience like the awards shows do.”
