Rockwall ISD Convocation kicks off new school year

(Rockwall ISD) August 25, 2013 – On Monday, August 19, Rockwall ISD employees attended the annual Rockwall ISD Back to School Convocation held at Lake Pointe Church.  New and returning teachers, administrators and employees were joined by the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees, Barbara Jackson with Toyota of Rockwall and other area business and community leaders.

Superintendent Jeff Bailey unveiled his inspirational theme for this year’s convocation, Unified 1:19.  “Although we have 19 diverse campuses with unique staff, students and families, we are all still unified in our efforts to provide the best education possible for our students,” explained Superintendent Bailey.

“I urge you to start the year with that unified vision—19 campuses, one district, one mission—united in our efforts to make a difference in the lives of our students.”

Dr. John Draper, President of Cambridge Strategic Services presented this year’s keynote address.  He spoke on the importance of positively communicating with the community in an effort to improve the image of public schools as a whole. Barbara Jackson with Toyota of Rockwall also spoke on her partnership with the district and the various programs she coordinates.

Attendees enjoyed performances by the Rockwall ISD staff band featuring singer Hunter Sullivan and the Rockwall-Heath High School Choir Ensemble. Rockwall ISD teachers and students look forward to the first day of school on Monday, August 26.
