Interested participants should reserve their spot now as space is limited and expected to fill quickly.

Painting Brilliant Florals with Nancy Medina

Come put a little joy in your brush and join award winning artist Nancy Medina for three days of painting flowers in brilliant colors.

Named one of the best floral and botanical artists by American Art Collector magazine, Nancy is an instructor for the Dallas Arboretum. Her paintings are collected around the world.

The Painting Brilliant Florals workshop is open for beginners to advanced students in oils, as well as those who work in water based oils and acrylics; participants will learn to loosen their approach to the floral still life. This will be a fun 3-day workshop, from September 26-28, including six demonstrations by the teacher. Nancy will share all of her favorite tips  for creating brilliant color on a transparent background, and methods for making flowers look authentic and beautiful using a loose, colorful approach to flower painting.

Class begins each day with a thorough and well explained demonstration by the instructor. Painting together each afternoon in step-by-step lessons, students will take home three completed paintings.

The cost is $345.  Payment can be made by Pay Pal or by using any major credit card by phone or email to: , 214-802-5537. Or visit nancymedina.com and submit payment through a link. The complete supply list is also available on the website.

Nancy conducted a workshop in Rockwall in October of 2013 and it was full with everyone asking her to return. This will be her second workshop in Rockwall.

Oil Painting Workshop with Cecy Turner

Cecy Turner is considered one of the best watercolor and oil landscape painters and is carried by numerous galleries.  She is a Signature Member of National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, American Women Artists,  National Watercolor Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, Outdoor Painters Society, Plein Air Artists Colorado, American Plains Artists, Master Signature Member of Women Artists of the West and a Fellow of the American Artists Professional League.  This will be her third workshop in Rockwall.

Once again, Cecy’s Oil Painting Workshop will focus on the big shapes that make up the landscape and do “shape plans” before beginning a painting. She will stress that “he whole contains individual parts, but the individual parts don’t make the whole.”

Also covered at length will be at least 20 contrasts to add interest and also support the artist’s focal area. Mixing a variety of greens will be stressed (participants should bring an old scrap of canvas or an inexpensive canvas panel for this).

Class size is limited to 14. The cost is $130, which covers both days, October 27 & 28. A deposit of $65 is required by September 30 to reserve space. Upon mailing their deposit, participants are encouraged to make suggestions of what landscape subject(s) they’d like to cover, and Cecy will pick from the popular vote. Class subjects and supply list will be sent out a month before the workshop. (The deposit is refundable until October 12). Mail to: Cecy Turner, 7824 Glenneagle Dr., Dallas, TX 75248.
