ROCKWALL, TX (July 7, 2014) On Saturday, June 28th, a few Rockwall area swimmers participated in the North Texas Lifeguard games held in Denton.

Two teams from Rockwall entered – the Sea Dragons with Ruth Huffman, Sammy Mears, Amelia Warren and Nicole Bruner, and the Krazy Krakens, with Forrest Harbin, Jack Conner, Janelle Hummingbird and Savanna Lowry.

Coached by Jennifer Null, the teams competed in events simulating real life guard duties including first aid, spinal injury rescue, simulated pool emergencies and relay races.

The teams competed against other youth teams from north Texas and Oklahoma.

Ruth Huffman, Amelia Warren, Nicole Bruner and Sammy Mears show off their 1st place overall trophy.

The Krazy Krakens placed 3rd in the obstacle course while the Sea Dragons took 1st in Crash Bag Clean-up, and 3rd in Spinal Rescue, which helped them to an overall 1st place victory in their division.

Congratulations on a job well done for these future lifeguards as this was the first time they had ever entered this competition.
