Royse City FunFest celebrates 25 years with new events

ROYSE CITY, TX (July 7, 2014) Organizers have announced that “FunFest 25 is going all out to be over the top and PACKED with things to do for all ages, thanks to Verandah/Centurion American and the Royse City Chamber of Commerce.”

The Jail Break Run will start the morning of October 18 off with a bang.  All proceeds from the RunFest/Jail Break 5k will go toward restoring the historic Calaboose in downtown Royse City. Everyone is encouraged to come downtown after the race and check it out.

Throughout the day there will be Old West Gunfight Shows brought to you by Native Outdoors, a Children’s Pageant sponsored by Stonebrook Academy,  and a Doggie Contest brought to you by Brushy Creek Retrievers. There will also be live music, a pie eating contest, truck pull, cow patty Bingo, a blood drive, mammography mobile, vendors, Military Heritage Museum military vehicle rides , archery and blow darts by Slingshots USA,  AND…”a HUGE KidsZone area.”

This section will feature a zip line, rock wall, rides and inflatables, hamster balls, a petting zoo, pony rides and a craft area sponsored by Country Life Montessori School.

Plus, new this year is a whole new element to as part of the 25th anniversary celebration — Microfest invites you to Tap Into Royse City!  From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 18, the inaugural craft beer experience comes to you under the water tower at Old Jail Park on the 200 block of E. Main St. in downtown Royse City.

Festival-goers will find their favorite local beers as well as ciders and a bit of wine. Under a large tent where three local bands will be performing the entire time, 20 beer brands will host over 60 styles to choose from.

Organizers explain how it works…Your $20 ticket gets you eight samples.  An additional eight samples can be purchased for $5.  Tickets are sold at the event and there is a limit of only 1,000, so come a little early.

But it’s not just about the beer.  Microfest 2014 supports two local charities: The Royse City Animal Shelter and Our Daily Bread Food Pantry.
