Craig Stoddart Republican nominee to replace Justice Jim Moseley

(August 6, 2014) The Republican County Chairmen of Collin County, Dallas County, Grayson County, Hunt County, Kaufman County, and Rockwall County are proud to announce that Craig Stoddart has been selected to be the Republican Nominee in the November election to replace Justice Jim Moseley on the Fifth District Court of Appeals.

Last month, Justice Moseley announced his retirement, to be effective at the end of August.  Justice Moseley was first appointed to the Fifth District Court of Appeals by then-Governor George W. Bush in 1996 and has served with distinction for more than 18 years.

Wade Emmert, Dallas County Republican Chairman and Chairman of the Committee to select the Republican nominee, recognized Justice Moseley’s distinguished career:

“Justice Jim Moseley has been an outstanding Justice. The citizens of the Fifth District owe Justice Moseley a debt of gratitude for his years of selfless service and his dedication to the rule of law,” Wade Emmert said.

Because of the timing of his retirement, voters in the Fifth District have the opportunity to elect his replacement in the General Election this November.

Republican and Democrat County Chairs in the Fifth District Court of Appeals each may select a nominee to appear on the ballot.

“We considered many qualified candidates. In the end, we felt that Craig Stoddart possesses the legal qualifications to be an outstanding Justice while also demonstrating a commitment to conservative principles,” Chairman Wade Emmert said. “Craig Stoddart will be a Justice who applies the law, rather than legislates from the bench.”

Also in support of Craig, Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper said “I’m incredibly proud and excited for my friend and colleague, the GOP county chairs have made a great choice for the Republican nominee, and I look forward to supporting Craig 100% in the November election.”
