ROCKWALL, TX (September 11, 2014) In less than 10 days, the bi-annual Aspasians Arts Fair, traditionally held on Rockwall’s historic downtown square, will  set up shop at Wilkerson Sanders Stadium, as it did this past spring.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday,  September 20, nearly 200 vendors will showcase their wares in the parking lot of the stadium and Utley Middle School, offering everything from trendy apparel and jewelry to home décor and vintage items. The move from its traditional location on the Square is necessary to make way for downtown renovations, which will include additional parking, lighting, sidewalks, landscaping, a pedestrian mall and courthouse plaza.

Jayme Reynolds, Kim Nielsen and Neely Holland don the Aspasians’ trademark aprons.

Each year, the Aspasians award more than $45,000 in scholarships to local graduating seniors. All of the money is raised through booth rentals at the Spring and Fall Art Fairs.

“Our loyal shoppers and supporters make it possible for us to give back to the community year after year. As our community grows, so does our Art Fair. This means we can help even more RISD students achieve their dream of attending college,” said Jenni Knox, past president.

The Aspasians also participate in several philanthropic projects, benefiting organizations like the Rainbow Room, Helping Hands and the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center.

“We’re embracing Rockwall County’s record-setting growth,” added Knox. “We’re excited – and our vendors are excited – about temporarily hosting this hometown event at the stadium lot as we did in the Spring. We look forward to introducing all of our new residents to the first-class shopping, food and family fun that the Art Fair has become famous for.”
