APHE Student Cooper Brandy Serves as Heath Mayor for the Day

(HEATH, TX- August 17, 2015) When Cooper Brandy shares “What I Did This Summer” on the first day of school, he can list serving as Mayor of Heath for the Day among his activities.

“Mayor Brandy” skillfully oversaw City operations including Public Works and the Department of Public Safety on August 11. He concluded his tenure as Mayor by opening the City Council meeting that evening, where he led the invocation and issued a City proclamation for the Teal Pumpkin Project.

Cooper and his family have a special interest in the initiative, which recognizes that as many as 6 million children in America have food allergies. To help make Halloween a fun, positive experience for all, the Teal Pumpkin Project encourages people to paint a pumpkin teal and place it on their porch to let Halloween Trick-Or-Treaters know that non-food treats await!

The Mayor of the Day opportunity was donated by Mayor Lorne Liechty as a silent auction prize for a recent PTO fund raiser at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School. It’s clear to all that Cooper Brandy has a bright future ahead of him in civic service!
