Kiwanis Club readies for upcoming 16th Annual Tri-Rock Triathlon August 7

(ROCKWALL, TX — June 29, 2016) The Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County is once again gearing up for their 16th annual Tri-Rock Triathlon. The triathlon will be held this year on Sun, August 7. The purpose of Tri-Rock is to raise funds to support the Kiwanis Club’s Food for Kids program (packing and distributing 300+ meals a month to qualified children,) the Angel League (a spring and fall baseball league for handicapped children and adults), Terrific Kids (awards presented to grade school children for good citizenship) and for several other programs, all aimed at improving the lives of the children in our local community.

This triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County and co-sponsored by the City of Rockwall and is a great race for beginners or as a tune up for experienced athletes. The triathlon promoter, Playtri Cycling has several locations to pick up registration packets. The triathlon will be held at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center. Transition starts at 6:00 AM and the race officially begins at 7:15. The course starts with a 300 meter swim, then a 13 mile bike course and finishes with a 5k run. All racers will receive a tee shirt and participant medals at the end of the race with awards given out in several categories. Relay teams are permitted. Food will be provided free of charge to participants.
