Celebration of Life: Services for Robert Woodrow ‘Woody’ Barnes

(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 7, 2016) Robert Woodrow “Woody” Barnes passed away on Monday, September 5 at the age of 71 years old. He now is able to rest in the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ. His memorial will be held Friday, September 9 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Rockwall, Texas.

Woody is remembered for his involvement in prison ministries throughout Texas. He helped many prisoners turn their lives around through the Achor Restoration Ministries and Kairos program. Woody also helped pioneer the programs Day with Dad, Marriage Seminar, and Day with Santa.  Woody was also a four year starter with the Rockwall Yellowjacket football team, co-captaining the 1963 state championship football team, and earning all-state recognition along the way.

Woody is survived by his sister Beverly Barnes Mummey and her husband Buz; His Uncle Clyde Richards and his wife Peggy; His Aunts Sarah Redrick and Billie Braly; Niece Marissa Clayton and her husband Toderick and children Marlie, Macie, and Calen; Nephew Justin Mummey and children McKenna, Maddox, and Coen; Nephew Brandon Jenkins.
