Landmark Fellowship celebrates five years of worship in Rockwall

(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 30, 2016) The Landmark Fellowship church of Rockwall has certainly seen its fair share of growth in the five years since its birth, when Pastor Lee Wells, joined by his parents and brother, his wife Lynda, and daughters Kayla and Addison, held what was to be Landmark’s first worship service inside a small office building off of Boydstun Street near downtown Rockwall on Aug. 7, 2011.

After a year, the church began to outgrow its location, and Wells soon launched a search for a new location. He found just the place in the form of an old building located just off the highway at 1545 East Interstate 30.

“We love it! Being right off the interstate – it’s a great location,” Wells said.

The location was the answer to the Wells family’s prayers; the building, however, needed some repairs and remodeling before the church could call it home. In Oct. 2012 construction permits were secured and plans for a complete remodel went underway. The building was stripped down to the stud walls and rebuilt with new, well, everything: restrooms, electrical, HVAC, walls and trusses. On December 2, 2012, Landmark held its first service in the new building.

“It’s been fun… it’s been a challenge, but it’s certainly been fun at the same time to come into a city and build something,” Wells said.

Along with its Sunday morning worship service, Landmark Fellowship also offers a weekly children’s ministry and Wednesday night Bible Study, which consists of a Q&A session with Pastor Wells on current topics and scripture. The church also holds a Sunday afternoon worship service for the Spanish-speaking population.

Wells said the church support missions throughout the U.S. and in other parts of the world, and also gives back locally by donating items to the Helping Hands food pantry every month.

“We try to keep in balance with supporting the needs locally, nationally and globally,” Wells said.

Wells, who worked as an itinerary preacher for seven years preaching all around the U.S. prior to establishing Landmark Fellowship Church, said he feels proud to be able to do God’s work in such a welcoming community as Rockwall.

“I still get invitations to preach at special events elsewhere, but I’d rather be here than anywhere else,” Wells said. “This is what I feel like God has called me to do in life – work in Rockwall, meet people here and extend what He’s doing in our life in ministry and here in this local church.”
