Rockwall first grader’s musical composition heads to state competition

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 30, 2017) Kaden Newton’s Reflections entry, Mermaid in the Sea, has advanced to state-level judging! This is a wonderful achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the program annually and less than 3% of those advance to the Texas PTA State Level.

Kaden is a seven-year-old first grader at Celia Hays Elementary. He is a piano student at the Rockwall School of Music under the instruction of Russ Porter.

Kaden Newton submitted a Reflections program musical composition. He advanced to district as a finalist from Hays Elementary. At the district level his piece was selected to move on to the state level. He performed his composition for the morning announcements at Hays and was awarded a certificate for his accomplishment. Congratulations, Kaden! Good luck at state!

PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2016-2017 theme: What Is Your Story?
