Royse City ISD launches community engagement initiative

(ROYSE CITY, TX — September 14, 2017) Royse City Independent School District is seeking volunteers from across the community to join its first-ever Community Advisory Committee.

Forming the committee is the first step in a community engagement initiative that will inform district leaders about what community members want to see in a Royse City ISD graduate and how they measure school success.

“As we work to establish a system that will keep our district accountable to the priorities of our community, this committee will serve as our guiding body,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “We want to ensure this committee includes voices from all parts of community we serve, so I encourage anyone who wants to help shape our future to sign up.”

The district has partnered with independent research and communications firm K12 Insight to guide this community engagement initiative, which will include committee meetings, community-wide education summits, and a community survey.

Anyone who is interested in joining the committee — or who wants to nominate someone — should go to k12insight.com/RoyseCityISD/committeeregistration and complete the registration form. Committee members must be able to attend meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Oct. 12
  • Monday, Nov. 6
  • Thursday, Jan. 18

The registration form will be open through Thursday, Sept. 14. Committee members will be selected to ensure representation from a variety of campuses, programs, jobs, community organizations, and non-district affiliations.

After the first committee meeting, the district will host two education summits open to the entire Royse City ISD community. The summits and the committee meetings will inform a community-wide survey that will be conducted in the late fall.

“I encourage our community to stay engaged with us,” Worthy said. “Over the next several months, community members will have several opportunities to share their priorities for our district and provide feedback to the committee and district leaders.”
