Amy Parks-Heath celebrates Texas Week

(HEATH, TX — October 10, 2017) Amy Parks-Heath Elementary celebrated “Texas Week” with their traditional Bluebonnet Stomp on Thursday, Oct. 5. Students proudly wore their school shirts with western wear and gathered to sing songs about Texas and “stomp” bluebonnet seeds into the ground.  The older students even provided fun entertainment by performing traditional line dancing. The main goal of the event is to plant bluebonnet seeds around campus and watch them grow into beautiful bluebonnets in the Spring. It’s a fun tradition and each year the school has more and more bluebonnets blooming!

This year, they were honored to have State Representative Justin Holland and his family attend the event to present the school with a Texas Flag that was previously flown over the State Capital in Austin. Students watched Boy Scouts from Troop 386 raise the flags and then everyone joined in to recite the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag. Holland and his wife, Neely, are the proud parents to an APHE Kindergartener, Wiley Beth, and a future APHE Mariner, 3-year old Cullie.
