Ashes-to-Go and Ash Wednesday Worship set for Feb. 14 at First Presbyterian Church Rockwall

(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 26, 2018) Rev. Cheryl Taylor, pastor of First Presbyterian Church at 602 White Hills Dr. in Rockwall, will be standing out front by the cross on Ash Wednesday, February 14, from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. to administer ashes and pray with those who drive up.  Everyone is welcome.

“Last year, we had almost 50 people drive up to receive ashes — some to mark the beginning of the season of Lent, some who needed to pray, and some who just wanted to see what was going on,” said Rev. Taylor.  “There clearly is a hunger for this type of connection to the holy.  And we’re happy to help people make that connection.”

In addition, First Presbyterian Church will hold a meditative Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 p.m. that evening in the sanctuary, featuring prayer, song and receipt of the sign of mortality — and the hope of immortality — in the form of ashes.  Child care will be provided.  For additional information, please contact the church at 972-771-5702 or welcome@firstpresrockwall.org. The church is located at 602 White Hills Dr., across the street from Walmart.
