VIP guests enjoyed a tour of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum plus a special reception including champagne and hors d’oeuvres to kick off the event. Following the VIP reception, folks enjoyed dinner, a cash bar, live auction, live orchestral music and a keynote address by former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, Jr. (Ret.).

Clarke spent four decades in law enforcement and is the best-selling author of “Cop Under Fire.” He is Senior Advisor to America First Action Super PAC and is a frequent guest on Fox News. Clarke is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Concordia University, Wisconsin and holds an M.A. in Security Studies from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security.

While promoting conservative values during his Reagan Day speech, Clarke also touched on his immense gratitude for having served in law enforcement. Clarke said it’s important for officers to continue serving their communities even while under scrutiny, referencing the civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri after the shooting death of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in 2014, and the six Baltimore police officers accused of being involved in the in-custody death of Freddie Gray in 2015.

“There’s no higher honor – and any law enforcement officer or military member can attest to this – to wear the uniform of your country or the uniform of your community and serve people,” Clarke said. “Every time I see a law enforcement officer I tell them, ‘You keep your head held high. You have nothing to be ashamed of. You go out there and continue to fight for your community and make it a better place. Your community needs you, and we both know that.’”

Clarke, a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, said he was once considered for a role in the Trump administration, but is proud to currently be serving as a spokesperson for America First Action Super PAC, an affiliate of the nonprofit organization America First Policies that supports the policy agenda of President Trump.

“I love this country, I love what it stands for, and now I get to go on the road and fight for liberty and freedom for future generations,” Clarke said.

Prior to Clarke’s presentation, the Rockwall GOP presented Rockwall Republican John Beaman with the Sparks award. Established in 1978 and named after Dr. Sherman Sparks, is given to a volunteer who has contributed substantially toward developing the GOP in Rockwall County. Anna Campbell and Toni Felts were presented with the Chairman’s Award recognizing their leadership, courage, vision, and outstanding contributions to the Rockwall County Republican Party.
