Hot Rocks Bike Ride this Saturday, Aug 11

(ROCKWALL, TX – July 25, 2018) Get ready to ride! The 31st annual Hot Rocks Bike Ride, hosted by the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club, will return Saturday August 11, 2018. Register online NOW at HotRocksBikeRide.com.

This year’s ride includes 12, 24, and 42 mile routes and the main event: a 56 mile course. Riders of all ages and skills level can enjoy Hot Rocks by participating in one of our shorter routes, or test their skills by competing for cash prizes awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 56 mile course.

Hot Rocks participants will receive a free t-shirt, swag bag and delicious lunch provided by Applebee’s and Luby’s. Six rest stops, ranging from 5 to 10 miles apart, will be stocked with ice cold water, hydration drinks, and fresh fruit.

Hot Rocks Chair Greg Blair said this year’s courses were designed specifically with safety in mind. “The changes were made for purposes of safety, minimizing traffic congestion, and enhancing the aesthetic beauty of the ride, as it largely takes place in rural northern Rockwall and southern Collin Counties,” Blair said. “The course is full of rolling hills and corn fields, with surprisingly light traffic for a ride in the Dallas Metroplex.”

Substantial resources have been allocated to improve signage throughout the course, with a goal of minimizing confusion at all turns.

Riders in the 56 mile route will take off at 7:30 a.m., while riders in the 12, 24, and 42 mile routes will take off at 8:10 a.m. Rockwall police officers will precede the first group of riders to keep them safe as they travel through intersections.

Proceeds from Hot Rocks go directly to local scholarships for graduating seniors from both Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath High School. Last year alone, Hot Rocks  raised over $45,000 for local students.
