Rockwall resident’s first book provides opportunity for hope, healing and awareness

(ROCKWALL, TX – August 2, 2018) A Rockwall resident’s newly published book, “Beautifully and Wonderfully Made,” is not only aimed at raising awareness about child abuse – but half of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County.

Lou Crouch describes herself as an advocate more than an author. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt – with more than 40 years serving in the interests of children. She served as a Child Development Specialist, a mentor and trainer for early literacy through the University of Texas/Houston Health Science Center, and for Region 10 ECS. She has served on advisory boards for childcare licensing and Head Start. She worked as a teacher and started Champions for Children with the help of the Ark-Tx Council of Governments where she was the training coordinator for early childhood teachers in nine counties.

“I hope you will use this story to talk to your children about inappropriate touch, and sexual secrets. My heart goes out to the innocent young children who certainly never did anything to deserve abuse. If it does happen to you or a family member, tell someone you trust, so you can get help as soon as possible,” Crouch said.

The book is illustrated by Kathy Moore, also a Rockwall resident. Crouch said she reached out to her after admiring one of Moore’s murals at a local elementary school. “This was Kathy’s first attempt to illustrate a book. She was so cooperative and captured the look I wanted for kids – large and colorful!”

By donating proceeds from book sales to the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, Crouch hopes it can have an even bigger impact in child abuse prevention and awareness.  The CAC provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals collaborate within our own community to develop coordinated strategies to more effectively seek justice and promote healing for victims of child abuse.

The book will be available on Amazon on August 14th, followed by the release of the paperback.
