Royse City School Board Approves Middle School Namesakes

(ROYSE CITY, TX — November 15, 2018) The Royse City ISD School Board approved namesakes for middle schools in the district. Royse City Middle School will be renamed as Ouida Baley Middle School. The district’s second middle school planned for Fate, Texas on Hwy 66 will be named Bobby Summers Middle School. Both namesakes were submitted dozens of times by community members across the district.

Mrs. Baley was a 1968 graduate of RCHS and worked for RCISD for 33 years as a teacher’s aide and bus driver. She was a beloved member of the community who left a significant impact on the students she worked with and the colleagues she worked alongside. The name change for RCMS will take place over the Summer of 2019.

Mr. Summers, also a RCHS graduate, has served on the school board since 1996. He is the voice of the bulldogs at every football game and has dedicated his life to the Royse City Bulldogs and community. There is no bigger fan of RCISD students and public education than Mr. Summers. Bobby Summers Middle School will open in August of 2020 serving students in 6-8th grades.

Both namesake nominees were put forward by a School Naming Committee comprised of individuals from both Royse City and Fate. The committee reviewed more than 280 submissions gathered by RCISD during the month of October.
